To honor Black History Month, Sul Ross students taking course ED 3301 (Curriculum & Instruction for the Classroom Teacher) recently traveled to Dirks Anderson Elementary School in Fort Davis to teach lessons focused on civil rights and the cultural contributions of African Americans.

SRSU student, Omar Guerrero, who is studying to be a music teacher, taught a lesson on Langston Hughes’ blues poetry.  Mary Powers and Megan Miller helped children create a Freedom Quilt after viewing a video about Martin Luther King Jr.  And Asia Saucedo and Isaac Tovar taught a lesson about Rosa Parks.
