The Sul Ross State University theatre program opens its 97th season with a new production of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth on Friday, Oct. 26 at 8:15 p.m. in Marshall Auditorium.
A twisted tale of murder, magic, and prophesy, the story follows Lord Macbeth from triumph on the battlefield, to castle conspirator, to blood-stained murderer as his wartime success slowly dissolves in a cauldron of political greed.
Macbeth is directed by Dona Roman, professor of theatre, and performed by a talented cast of 24 Sul Ross students, including Jonathan Fields and Gabrielle Rule as Lord and Lady Macbeth.
Production credits include scenic design by Carolyn Barrientes, assistant professor of theatre, lighting design and technical direction by Bret Scott, assistant professor of communication, costume and make-up design by Roman, sound design by senior theatre major Alyssa Longoria, and stage combat choreography by senior theatre major Westin Huffman. The production is stage managed by junior theatre major Mayra Torres.
Macbeth will run through Nov. 4 with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8:15 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Marshall Auditorium is located in the Morelock Academic Building on SRSU’s Alpine campus.
