A new exhibit titled “Playing with Chess” will be on view in Sul Ross State University’s Francois Fine Arts Gallery (FAB 102) from Dec. 3 to Jan. 25.

The chess-themed show features engaging, sometimes playful works of art created by eleven Texas Tech artist-alumni along with ten other artists from around the state.  While some of the 21 artists constructed actual chess sets, others have used chess pieces to portray the game as a metaphor for various aspects of life.  This Texas-touring show is curated by Texas Tech Professor of Art Future Akins.

“Playing with Chess” is open to the public free of charge Monday through Friday from 8-5 p.m. (excluding University holidays).  For more information call the fine arts office at 432-837-8258.
